The Birla Institute of Technology and Science Admission Test (BITSAT) 2026 is one of India’s most prestigious and unique engineering entrance exams. Conducted by BITS Pilani, it is the gateway to the Pilani, Goa, and Hyderabad campuses.

The 2026 session is particularly noteworthy due to revised eligibility criteria and an update to the registration fees.


BITSAT 2026 Important Dates

BITSAT is conducted in two sessions, allowing candidates two opportunities to improve their scores. The official schedule for 2026 is as follows:

Eligibility Criteria (Revised for 2026)

The eligibility rules for BITS are strict. Ensure you meet these requirements before applying:

  • Educational Qualification: Must have passed Class 12 in 2025 or appearing in 2026.

  • Mandatory Subjects: Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (for B.E.) or Biology (for B.Pharm), with English as a compulsory subject.

  • Minimum Marks: * An aggregate of 75% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology.

    • At least 60% marks in each of these three subjects individually.

  • Major Change for 2026: Students who retake the Class 12 examination for all subjects are no longer eligible for BITSAT.9 Only those who take improvement in a few subjects (while maintaining “Pass” status) are considered.

BITSAT is a 3-hour Computer-Based Test (CBT) known for testing speed and accuracy rather than just complex problem-solving.

The “Extra Questions” Feature: If a candidate completes all 130 questions before time ends, they can attempt 12 extra questions (3 from each subject).15 However, once you opt for these, you cannot go back to edit the initial 130 answers.

The fees have been increased by ₹100 for the 2026 cycle.

Syllabus & Preparation Strategy

The syllabus is strictly based on NCERT Class 11 and 12.

  • Physics/Maths: Focus on speed.20 BITSAT questions are often formula-based but require quick calculation.

  • Chemistry: NCERT is your best friend.22 Inorganic chemistry questions are often direct lines from the textbook.

  • English & LR: Do not ignore these! They make up nearly 23% of the paper and are often the difference between a seat in Pilani versus other campuses.
