From the coming academic year (2016-17), single window counselling of Tamil Nadu engineering admissions (TNEA) will go fully online, G Nagarajan, director of admissions at Anna University, said on Wednesday. Despite just 10% of the 1.6 lakh applicants opting for online registration last year, Anna University had decided to choose the option as a majority of exam registrations were done on the web, he said. Applicants from rural areas can use the 10,000 e-seva centres of the Tamil Nadu government to submit online applications in case of difficulty with respect to technology or resources, he added.
Registration fee of 500 for general candidates and 250 for SC/ST candidates can be paid online or by demand draft drawn in favour of ‘Secretary, TNEA 2016’ from any nationalized bank. Candidates opting for special reservation like ex-serviceman, sports quota, etc, need to pay an additional 100. Aspirants from Tamil Nadu fight for about two lakh odd seats in Anna University and affiliated colleges under TNEA single window counselling. Registration opens on April 15 and closes a week after declaration of Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) results.
